What exactly is a panic attack? Well, if you have ever experienced one, you probably have a pretty good idea of what it is or what it feels like: you can’t catch your breath, your heart is racing/pumping, you have an overwhelming sense of “doom and gloom”, and you get so scared that you really don’t know what to do.

It’s an intense feeling that can come on you for seemingly no apparent reason. The combination of physical and psychological symptoms can produce a very frightening experience.

A panic attack usually begins with a person suddenly feeling intense panic or fear. Often followed by physical symptoms like profuse sweating, wobbly legs, nausea, heart palpitations, and hyperventilation.

In some cases, panic attacks can appear from “out of nowhere” and the causes may be varied or unknown. If this is the case, an individual might find hypnosis to be beneficial. In fact, hypnotherapy could help a person to uncover subconscious,  deep-seated issues that might be causing the attacks.

Hypnotherapy has proven to be very effective in dealing with stress, fear, and anxieties. It therefore lends itself well towards the treatment of panic attacks. This is because hypnotherapy assists a person using the power of suggestion, along with helping them overcome insecure and limiting beliefs.

Hypnosis can also be used to help overcome poor self esteem and negative thinking . . . characteristics that can contribute to someone having panic attacks. Often times the hypnotherapist will teach their clients self-hypnosis techniques, allowing them to continue their treatment from home.
